Studio D'Artisan D1922W Suvin Gold Wide Straight 15oz Selvedge Jeans - Onewash
The Studio D’Artisan D1922 Suvin Gold Denim Jeans showcase one of the rarest and most luxurious cotton fibres used in denim production. Crafted from Suvin Gold—an ultra-long staple cotton developed from a cross between Sujata cotton from India and Sea Island cotton from the Caribbean—the material is grown exclusively in Tamil Nadu in southern India. With only around 1,500 to 2,000 bales produced annually, Suvin Gold is prized for its rarity, exceptional softness and refined appearance.
Suvin Gold fibres measure around 2.8 microns in fineness and naturally contain a high level of wax and oil. This gives the fabric its distinctive silky lustre, supple drape and remarkably soft texture. The cotton also retains its character even after repeated washing, maintaining its luxurious feel over time. For this denim, both the warp and weft use No.6 Suvin Gold yarn, rope-dyed with natural indigo and combed to remove short fibres, creating a smooth, high-quality yarn that maximises the cotton’s natural qualities.
The result is a 15oz denim with a smooth hand, subtle sheen and unique softness rarely found in traditional denim fabrics. The jeans are cut in Studio D’Artisan’s 102 loose straight fit, the widest silhouette among their classic models, offering a relaxed shape with a timeless straight leg profile. Combining premium materials with traditional Japanese craftsmanship, the D1922 delivers a refined yet comfortable denim experience.
