This work shirt is crafted from an original rope indigo heavy flannel that merges the character of denim with the warmth and texture of classic flannel. The heavy check fabric combines dark blue rope-dyed indigo yarn — the same type used in denim — with coloured yarns dyed using a special reactive dye that fades naturally. The result is a shirt that evolves over time much like raw denim, developing depth and contrast while retaining the distinctive tones of flannel.

The striking orange tones are inspired by “joshikimaku,” the official stage curtains of traditional Kabuki theatres, bringing a subtle cultural reference to the design. The weave structure has been adjusted to echo the look of sashiko, adding further texture and visual richness. Finished with Samurai engraved indigo-dyed nut buttons, a navy slake, the Samurai “Hi No Maru” rising sun name tag and a Samurai guarantee ticket, the garment is washed for comfort while maintaining its rugged character. Made in Japan from 100% cotton, it’s a piece designed to age, soften and gain individuality with wear.
