The renewed S510HX from the Samurai Vintage Series pays tribute to the brand’s early foundations, reimagined with newly developed 15.8oz Samurai Cotton GL3 selvedge denim. Woven slowly on the legendary Toyoda GL3 power loom, this fabric combines a slubby #6 warp yarn made from 100% Texas cotton with a #5 weft yarn blended with Samurai Cotton. The result is a richly textured cloth with natural nep, short-staple character and a deep indigo tone reminiscent of 1950s denim. The GL3 loom preserves the uneven structure of the yarns, giving the fabric an authentic vintage feel with remarkable depth.
The selvedge ID features a kinari (ecru) base with a pale pink centre thread, evoking a faded red tone, along with a subtle strand of glitter lame for a discreet touch of Samurai pride. Construction details remain true to vintage specifications, including 47-style sewing techniques, carefully considered stitch count and width, and cotton thread usage to replicate an old-time atmosphere. Kinari-coloured selvedge pocket bags, SAMURAI JAPAN iron buttons, copper rivets and thick two-pronged hidden brass rivets complete the build. The sheep leather patch references early Samurai designs, and the flasher carries a distinctly vintage look.
Cut in a regular straight silhouette with a mid-high rise, the fit offers a little extra room in the waist and rise before tapering gradually towards the hem.
