The Samurai S2000HXII is a renewed edition of the brand’s Samurai Vintage Series, built to recreate the atmosphere and construction of early wartime denim. Designed with a slightly wide straight silhouette and a high rise, the fit offers generous room through the hip and rise while maintaining a classic straight leg. The model reflects the stripped-down yet rugged character of WWII-era jeans, with thoughtful details that capture the look and construction methods of vintage garments.
At the heart of the design is a newly developed 15.8oz Samurai Cotton GL3 selvedge denim. The warp uses a slubby #6 yarn spun from 100% Texas cotton and dyed a deep indigo with a strong blue tone reminiscent of 1950s denim. The weft uses #5 yarn blended with Samurai’s own cotton, adding nep and rough texture to the fabric. Both yarns are woven slowly on the legendary Toyoda GL3 loom—one of the earliest power looms in Japan—allowing the slubby character of the yarns to remain intact and giving the denim its rich, textured surface.
The selvedge edge features an ecru “kinari” base with a pale pink centre thread that evokes a faded red line, finished with a subtle strand of glitter lamé as a nod to Samurai pride. Authentic construction details include iron laurel buttons, SAMURAI JAPAN iron buttons on the fly, copper SAMURAI CO rivets, brass SAMURAI CO hidden rivets and a sheep leather patch inspired by early WWII models. Olive herringbone pocket bags and camo-patterned flashers add further character, while the sewing specifications replicate vintage production techniques, including carefully chosen cotton threads, stitch counts and intentionally unfinished interior seams typical of wartime jeans.
